I’m Emilia O’Brien

Digital Product Manager,

UX Specialist, Dancer, Baker, Writer, Photographer

Learning is at the center of all of my interests. I love to travel because I love to learn about new places, cultures, and meet new people. I love to craft because I love to learn about patterns, innovative ways to mix craft mediums, and color combinations. I love reading because I love learning about stories, both new and familiar, through different perspectives. I love dancing because it provides me a medium to explore and learn about the intersection of movement and personal expression.

In recent years, my love for learning and creating has shifted into a love for creating user-centered solutions, whether it be iterating through 14+ designs to creating the perfect knitted hat with space for a ponytail (currently working on a very promising attempt #15!), or developing a new way to teach an English Second Language curriculum for a  local literacy council. It truly excites me to be able to research and understand problems, and create unique solutions and recommendations for those problems. My love for learning about and teaching others makes me an empathetic, curious, and creative researcher and individual. My talents in mediation and experience in UX make me a dynamic digital product manager.

I am a very passionate fan of the 2023 National Championship football team the Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!), dancer, baker, film photographer, and writer.

Why Product Management and Why UX?

Growing up the daughter of owners of a small business, I have seen my parents adjusting their services to better fit their clients my entire life. Seeing them serve my hometown in a user-centric way led me to discover the wide reach of UX Research and Design and how it enables the creation more inclusive, accessible, and unique experiences for individuals that suit their needs. At Michigan, and through professional experience I discovered Digitial Product Managment- a role that empowers me to be able to respond to user needs and business requirements on a larger scale. By leveraging my expertise in User-Centered Design and my skills in mediation, I shape extraordinary experiences and products that resonate with consumers.
